Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use this site, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnifiers or captions.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, and we check new pages against them.
What we’ve done
- Plain language, large text and strong color contrast, in light and dark mode.
- Every animated lesson has on-screen captions, a pause button, and a full written version on the same page.
- The site works with a keyboard, and there’s a “Skip to main content” link.
- Motion is reduced when your device asks for less motion.
- Every lesson is also available in Spanish.
What we’re still working on
The animations are visual. If they don’t work for you, the written version of each lesson has all the same information. Some government and other websites we link to are run by others and may not be fully accessible.
Tell us about a problem
If something on this site is hard to use, email hello@explained.page with the page and what happened. We’ll reply within 5 business days and work to fix it, and we can send you the information another way in the meantime.
